hunts are unguided,but
we will show you were the birds feed ,roost etc.Then you can hunt
at will with bow or shotgun.
Situated
15 miles from the small town of Ranfurly
(population 800) in central otago,
south island of New Zealand. We are about two
hours drive from Queenstown
which is the adventure capital of New Zealand.Queenstown or Dunedin
airports are
our main pickup points.We offer bow
hunting and shotgun hunting .Guided 1 x 1 and semi guided
turkey hunts. We have turkey hunts for all fitness levels
and supply all hunting equipment
We have a
designated area ( approx 1000 acres ) strictly for the turkey bow
hunter.
Because
there
are no predators here in New Zealand turkey
numbers are high and less
afraid than turkeys in the USA But don't get me wrong calling or stalking these
birds is
still a great
challenge .
Our limit of five
birds a day still takes some patience and skill,
from hunter. One things for sure you will probably see more
turkeys with
Doctari Safaris than some hunters will see in a lifetime
of hunting elsewhere.
The average mature
tom weights 20lbs (depending on
time of year)
Beard
length average 5 to 7 inches , Spurs
up to 1 inch .

usually starts in august and goes on into the summer
months

five birds a day ( 2 hens and 3 toms NO Jakes 2009 ) you
will
have a great chance of getting
an excellent NZ trophy tom. Taxidermy is also
available , with full mounts or tail
